Another After School Special success! The theme this month was the Arctic. We watched a neat National Geographic clip, followed by creating our own cotton ball igloos and handprint polar bear scenes. Afterwards, kiddos tucked one hand into "blubber" (bag layered in shortening) while a bare hand dipped into icy water to see exactly why arctic animals have/need this protective fatty layer. Snacks consisted of apple and marshmallow igloos, along with a cute, and ice(cream)cold polar bear face!
